Richard POUMELIN

Richard Poumelin is a French artist born in 1965.
He began drawing at the age of sixteen and then trained under the tutelage of painter Jean-Georges Inca. Initially practicing watercolor for a time, a technique in which he excelled and won numerous awards, in recent years he has used a mixed technique of acrylic, oil, and graphite.
Through the use of these materials, he has improved his mastery of the medium and played with contrasts. Passionate about nature, and more specifically about his native Provence, he draws inspiration from the diversity of landscapes and everyday scenes to create his paintings.
Self-taught, Richard is inspired by Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masters such as the English watercolorists William Turner and Richard Parkes Boningon. He recognizes in this artistic movement the shifting and ephemeral aspect of moments captured in the moment. His modern post-impressionist approach involves creating an atmosphere of color interspersed with light, and between curves and vertical lines, he invents a world with a strong structure.
His works are filled with emotion and vibration. His quest for the absolute paves the way for an intense lyricism.
He has received numerous awards, including the 1999 European Art Fair in Brussels, where he received first prize, and the 2005 Salon d'Art Plastique, where he received the gold medal.
