Evelyne BRADER FRANK

Evelyne+Brader-Frank+Portrait.png

Evelyne was born in 1970 and grew up in Switzerland in an artistically talented family. Influenced by her grandfather, a landscape architect, and her brother, a surrealist painter, Evelyne had the opportunity to experiment with different mediums (pencil, watercolor, and airbrush). After training in banking, Evelyne enrolled in her first sculpture class in 1990.

At the end of 1994, Evelyne left Switzerland and moved to Alberta, where she expanded her work not only to bronze, concrete, and ice, but also to sculpture. She has established herself as an acclaimed sculptor and is now successfully represented by leading galleries in Canada and Switzerland.

Unlike other artistic methods, sculpture has allowed Evelyne to express herself in three dimensions. She learned to work with many types of stones, but always returned to soapstone, the medium in which she could best express herself.

Fascinated by classical mythology, Evelyne names her sculptures after figures from Greek and Roman myths, seeking a connection between a character and her feelings for the new sculpture.

Her unmistakable signature in her artistic work lies in the beauty of the human form interpreted in her own abstract language. She draws inspiration from the female figure with its sensual contours, expansive volumes, vibrant radiance, and sublime finesse. Extreme formal reduction is Evelyne Brader-Frank's trademark.

The abstract and dynamic sculptures are reduced to stone, bronze, or steel.

Voluptuous and sensual curves, ample female bodies, or slender statues with delicate silhouettes: her interpreted contemporary feminine archetypes celebrate, above all, the dance of curves.
